The Supreme Court of India has announced a ruled that for now, each and every citizen of India don’t have to link their Aadhaar numbers to a range of services including bank accounts and mobile phones. Today The top court said that all the biometric ID is mandatory for accessing social welfare schemes and subsidies, but till it decides on whether the government’s demand for Aadhaar to be linked to private and public services is a violation of the right to privacy, the 12-digit unique number given to each citizen does not have to be linked to other services.
Aadhar is now the world’s biggest biometric database, Government start mandate to use of Aadhaar from 2009 to streamline all the welfare payments and reduce wastage in public spending.
Since then Government start mandate of Aadhaar for each and everything from filing of income tax to registration of mobile phone numbers and from booking of railway tickets to deposit of large amount of money in the bank Aadhaar is mandate. It is also mandatory for all the welfare, pension and employment schemes.
Recently the top Court’s of India declared a rule and they extend the deadline of bank accounts and mobile phones to be linked from Aadhar from 31st march to till it decides on whether the Aadhaar Act is illegal.
Some of the Group of petitioners file a PIL to the Supreme Court of India to inform regarding Goverment is violating the right to privacy which insisting people to add all the detail on Aadhaar. In 2017 the Supreme Court of India declared a rule that Privacy is our fundamental right and the bench also inform that the decision of Aadhaar would be taken separately.
The Government says to the Supreme Court of India that they are accepting that privacy is one of the fundamental right but in case of Aadhaar they didn’t agree.
Why PIL Filed?
Most of the Critics are worried about data breaches of Aadhaar and say the Aadhaar linking could have enough data to know about a person full profile about it’s habits, their friends, how much property they have and they can also stole much more information related to a particular person.
So, Is linking Aadhar Card with PAN Card mandatory?
As a Result of the above, So the People who have PAN Card will have mandatory to link it with Aadhar Card to file Income Tax Return. Because after 30th June 2017, It is mandatory to add Aadhaar number or Enrolment Id while you are filing your Income Tax Return.
